Assembly theme

Interviews are the tool used in today's plenary session to help distill thinking on the theme. A panel is asked to reflect on the theme's various dimensions - transforming the world, the earth, our societies, our churches, our lives, and our witness - from their own contexts, and from their experiences during the Assembly. The plenary listens to a first reading of the message to be issued by the Assembly, the WCC's supreme governing body.

Spiritual life

Today's worship centres on the prayer, "God, in your grace, transform our lives". The Bible readings (Ezekiel 27: 1-12) and John 4: 1-42 are about water, which is also today's worship symbol; Jesus, who taught in parables, described the redemption he offered as "a spring of water gushing up to eternal life" (John 4:14).
