Protest nets additional nomination, new committee

 


PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil (2/24/06) — Young adult stewards and delegates at the ninth Assembly of the World Council of Churches (WCC) have seen some positive results in response to their protest earlier in the week, though not all of their initial requests have been met.

 

Yesterday, the WCC nominating committee proposed more one more young adult delegate for election to the Council's central committee. Twenty-two of the 150 members of the central committee will now be young adults for 15 percent of the total. (...)
